Bali

Dhaumya said -

Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha were sons of Diti and were crule. They were defeated by Hari.
Prahlada was the son of Hrinayakashipu. Prahlada's son was called Vircohana. The Gods wanting to test Vircohana had asked for alms and Virochana had given up his body. Virochana's son was Bali. With his strength and might, Bali won over the three worlds. There was a fierce battle that had taken place between Bali and Indra. At one point Indra had fainted and seeing that Matali had run away with Indra. When he came to his sense, Indra asked Matali to turn back. Indra, with renewed vigor fought and Bali fell on his chariot. Seeing Bali fall, the Gods fled.
The Daityas then carried the body of Bali to the cosmic ocean. His Guru, Shukracharya, revived him.
Bali got a new life and was grateful to Shukracharya.
He learnt all the mantras from his Guru and then went to the Himalayas to meditate.

Brahma came to give him a boon. Bali asked to be immortal. Brahma granted him the boon.
Bali then went and attacked Indra again. A fierce battle took place and Indra was defeated.
After that Bali performed many sacrifices.

In the meantime, Aditi, mother of Gods wondered how her sons would get their kingdoms back.
