The battle resumed at dawn. Bhishma and Arjuna kept fighting. Bhima created a havoc with his mace. Ashwatthama attacked Bhima. Bhima climbed on his chariot. Bhima cut off the arrows coming towards him. Bhima then wounded Ashwatthama who fainted. Seeing this, Kalinga, a brother of Duryodhana, came to fight Bhima. He could not withstand Bhima's attack and fainted. Other brothers came to fight, seeing this but met their end at the hands of Bhima. Kalinga seeing his brothers dead, challenged Bhima.
Bhima flung his mace. Krishna added power to the mace, and soon elephants and soldierswere flying in the air, as the mace went through the army. Many died there. Soon Bhima killed Kalinga also.
Drona, seeing this, fired arrows at Bhima, wounding him. Bhima then lept onto his chariot and picked up his bow. Soon Bhima and Drona began fighting, showering arrows at each other.
Nakula and Jayadhrata were fighting. Sahadeva and Shakuni were fighting. Sahadeva wounded Shakuni who fainted and was picked up brought to safety by his army.
Ashwatthama and Abhimanyu were fighting.
Krishna took the chariot near Bhishma. Arjuna and Bhishma were fighting each other when the day came to an end.
