Pandavas met Markandeya

Arjuna said to Yudhistira that he had heard from the sages that there was a forest called Daitya which was a very peaceful place.

Hearing this Yudhistira said he was ready to go there.

It was forest full of tall trees. They set up a place there. There were many sages, who hearing the Pandavas had come, came and met them.

The great sage, Markandeya, came to meet the Pandavas. Yudhistira greeted the great sage and gave him a place to sit. Markandeya laughed.

The Pandavas did not know why the sage laughed. Yudhistira asked the sage, the reason for the same.

Markandeya said - Like you live in the forests, Rama, son of Dashratha, lived in the forest with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. He lived as an ascetic and won over Ravana. Similarly, you are in the forest because of truth. Victory will eventually be yours. The laughter is because I can see you and I am happy.

Markandeya then took leave of the Pandavas.
