Why I started this:
In 2015 I lost my mother. She had been that person who had
instilled the love for these texts. She was the one who taught me how to analyse
the texts and try and understand what things meant. She taught me how to read into
things and learn instead of following the lines literally.
It was in the end of 2015, that I decided to start the blog.
As a homage to my mother, I began this. And also, to channel my grief elsewhere.
Thus, was born this blog.
I had been looking for an English translation for the Mahabharata
of Kashidas for a long time. I saw translations of Vyasa’s Mahabharata but not
this. Therefore, I started this.
This is not my best work, but it is available. I have
started working on refining the posts and the refined work can be found on https://writtenbybabu.blogspot.com/
So, a crude translation here, a more refined work there.
What you will find here:
A translation from Bengali into English of the Mahabharata
of Kashidas. This was started in 2015 and it wrapped up in 2016.
In 2025, I started revisiting the text, starting on Substack
and then moving on to Blogger.
For the posts related to the Mahabharata, I try and share weekly updates from https://writtenbybabu.blogspot.com/
You can enjoy both. The translation here, and the story and an analysis of the
story on the other blog.
The artwork I have used is something I have generated using
AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT. Some animated GIF images have been created
using Meta AI.
If there is an issue with the art, please let me know and I will remove them.
To support the research that goes into maintaining this, I
