Coming back Yayati called for his sons. He said - I have been cursed with old age. I have the wish to live for a few more years, enjoy my youth and life. Who of you will be willing to accept my age, give me your age?
Yadu refused and was cursed to have a bad dynasty. Turvavasu refused and was cursed to be the king of tribals (mlechhas).
When the sons of Devyani refused, he asked the sons of Sharmistha.
Druhyu refused and was cursed to lead a life of Adharma. Anu refused and was cursed to have all the ill effects of old age.
The youngest of the sons, Puru agreed to accept the old age. Puru was blessed to be a great king.
Puru became old and Yayati regained his youth.
The king enjoyed himself for years. One day he saw his son Puru suffering and suddenly he felt very ashamed of himself. He realized that desires and wishes were never ending. He went to him and gave him back his youth. He also declared that after him, Puru would be crowned the king.
