The dancing head

Janmayeja said to all present that he was still hurt and angry, and that his feelings had not vanished. He said, a sage without seeing reason cursed my father and another came and saved me from a grave sin. He said he felt frustrated and wanted to kill and destroy all the brahmanas in his land. In older days there was a king, Kartavirya, who had also pledged to kill Brahmanas.
His ministers were worried seeing the state of the king. They said, No one will advise you to perform such acts. If there was a Kartavirya, there was also a Parashurama who killed Kartavirya.

Knowing the state the mind of the king, Vyasa, the great rishi came there.
Seeing Vyasa, the king was very happy. He welcomed him and washed his feet.

Vyasa said, do not be angry at all brahmanas because of the fault of one. The entira dynasty of Yadu got destroyed because of a brahman. The dynasty of Sagara also got destroyed because of a brahman.

The king said I have killed many snakes as part of this sacrifice. How can I atone for those sins? He decided to perform the Ashwamedha Yagna to wash off his sins. Vyasa asked him not to do so and went away from there.

The king went ahead. At the end of the Yagna, the horse was sacrificed. Suddenly the cut head of the horse started dancing.

Seeing this, a brahman boy was amused and started claping his hands. The king felt insulted and taking a sword, he cut off the boy's head.
