The might Yadava warriors like Satyaki, Sambha, Saran and Gada started chasing Arjuna. They called out to Arjuna and asked him to stop. Arjuna told Daruka to stop the chariot and turn it towards the Yadavas. Daruka said he would not be able to turn the chariot and being a Yadava see Arjuna fight the Yadavas,
Arjuna said this was not the conduct of a brave warrior. If there was a call for battle, then the battle needed to happen. He would not show his back and run. He told Daruka if he would not turn the chariot, Arjuna would take control of the chariot and fight, and perform the two tasks simultaneously.
When Daruka did not listen, he tied Daruka in the chariot to the flag pole. He then took the reins and tied them to his right hand. Subhadra said, Arjuna did not have to take trouble. She was adept at handling the chariot and would take over the role of the charioteer. Letting Arjuna concentrate on the fight, Subhadra took the reins and turned the chariot around.
A fight ensued. Many warriors lost their lives. Arjuna was untouched.
