Pandavas enter the forest of Hidimb

Pandavas entered the forest of Hidimba. All were tired but they still decided to walk, They were not sure if Purochana had died and were not sure if he would come chasing them. They walked as far as they could. Kunti was tired and wanted to rest for a while.
Yudhistira was afraid that Purochana may have escaped and was after them. Bhima told him not to worry. He also asked them to rest, while he went to get some water for them to drink.

Bhima went out in search of water. He heard from a distance, the sound of flowing water. He saw a lake, and had a bath there. Wanting to take water back. he saw he had no utensils. He then wet his clothes and in an instant, he went where his brothers and mother were resting. He saw that they had all fallen asleep on the ground. He was sad to see their condition. People who slept in the most luxurious of beds were now sleeping on hard ground. In his mind, Bhima cursed Shakuni, Karna and Duryodhana for having plotted this, and Dhritarashtra for not having stopped this.

When Bhima was thus silently cursing his fate, a giant dark rakshasha called Hidimb happened to come there. Hidimb was hungry and having spotted six humans, he wanted to make a meal out of them. He asked his sister, Hidimba, to go fetch them for him.
