Introduction

Kashiram was born in a Vaishnava Kayastha family, in Bengal somewhere in the 16th century. Like Krittibas, he translated the Vyasa's Mahabharat for the common folk. In the process of the translation, he added folk tales and stories, which became very popular in Bengal.

It is said that he was not able to complete his work due to his death, and the rest of the work had to completed by others in his family.
